RNA - Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani attended the opening ceremony and delivered his speech to a large group of guests from all around the world.
Head of Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq (ISCI) Ammar al-Hakim, former Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki, and Deputy Secretary-General of the Lebanese Hezbollah Resistance Movement Sheikh Naim Qassem are among the guests in the opening ceremony.
Several Iranian officials including Secretary-General of the World Assembly of Islamic Awakening Ali Akbar Velayati and Chairman of Iranian Parliament’s Foreign Policy and National Security Committee Alaeddin Boroujerdi are also attending the session.
Near 1,800 senior Shiite Muslim scholars and clerics from 130 countries have taken part in this edition of Ahl-ul-Bayt World Assembly.
Raising the awareness of problems followers of Ahl-ul-Bayt (the family of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)) have faced in recent years, and conferring on ways to take advantage of the Shiite world’s capabilities are stated to be among the main goals behind the Assembly.
