RNA – Speaking at a ceremony at Beirut’s al-Mustafa School, Shaykh Na’im Qassem, the deputy secretary-general of Hezbollah stressed that the Zionist regime has been defeated and the United States has been weakened as a result of the 2006 Lebanon War.
The Lebanese cleric explained that everything clearly changed in Lebanon and in the region after Hezbollah’s victory in the 2006 Lebanon War, and stated that the most important points can be summarized as: Israel was defeated, the Palestinian resistance stood up to the aggressors, nations in the region rose up, the United States’ power was weakened, regional regimes were destabilized, and al-Qaeda and similar Takfiri groups were exposed and the Islamic Resistance become stronger due to divine aid.
He added that a major characteristic of Hezbollah’s divine victory in 2006 was not only the liberation of southern Lebanon and the defeat of Israel, but rather it was the fact that Hezbollah itself achieved this great victory – a group which represents a unique Islamic and national model of resistance.
Shaykh Qassem stressed that the victory of the Islamic Resistance [Hezbollah] presented an Islamic perspective, strengthened faith in Islam and liberated the Lebanese homeland, and also provided opportunities for interaction based on the principle of partnership with all political groups in the country.
He stated that the young members of Hezbollah represented the honour of jihad when they liberated their land and people and revealed the falsity of the Takfiris’ lies. They also presented Islam as a merciful faith and proved that jihad is an act of faith and morals which provides the people with liberation and independence.
In regard to internal developments in Lebanon, Shaykh Qassem said: “If there are certain problems with the election of a new president, why are parliament and the interests of the people suspended? We are facing a specific crisis which and we require time to find solutions to the problems of the parliament. So why do we have parties working to overthrow the cabinet?”
