Ayatollah Haydari:
Rasa – A member of Iran's assembly of experts said: “If any security breach and the automatic reversal of the sanctions are included in the resolution, the position of the Islamic Republic of Iran should be that it will return to its nuclear activities at the same intensity as it was engaged in previously.”

RNA – In an exclusive interview with Rasa News Agency, Ayatollah Mohsen Haydari, a member of Assembly of Experts, referred to the United Nations Security Council resolution in regard to Iran’s agreement with the P5+1 group of countries, saying: “Conflicting statements about this resolution have been heard.”

His Eminence added that some said that UNSC Resolution 2231, which endorses the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) on Iran’s nuclear program,  includes provisions which restrict Iran from strengthening its missile defence capabilities and building missiles and said that such issues would be considered as going against the country’s red lines.

The Friday prayers’ leader of Ahvaz said that others, including officials in Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs have stated that some provisions of this resolution are not binding and it only applies to missiles which are capable of carrying nuclear warheads.

“These individuals claim that because Iran does not have nuclear-capable missiles, there is no need to worry,” he said.

Ayatollah Haydari pointed to the uncertainty surrounding the process of lifting the sanctions imposed on Iran and the existence of security breaches in the Security Council resolution, saying: “If any security breach and the automatic reversal of the sanctions are included in the resolution, the position of the Islamic Republic of Iran should be that it will return to its nuclear activities at the same intensity as it was engaged in previously.”

The Iranian scholar said that the Iranian people’s rights and the principles of wisdom and dignity must be respected by the arrogant powers and Iran must fully resist its enemies in the political and economic arenas and if necessary, it must resist militarily.

He said there must be no compromise with those who are against Islam or with the arrogant powers and stressed that the opposition of the arrogant powers toward Islam is real and serious. “Islam does not give permission to reconcile with the arrogant powers. Just as the greed and excesses of the enemies do not end, there is no other way except resistance,” he said.

Ayatollah Haydari referred to the critical task of the Iranian parliament and said the nation’s representatives in parliament should monitor the issues, remain vigilant and firmly reject any provision in the JCPOA which is contrary to the interests of the nation.
