RNA – In a statement, Shaykh Abdul-Latif Daryan, the Grand Mufti of Lebanon, has condemned the actions of a group of Israeli settlers who burnt a Palestinian infant to death and stressed that no divine religions allow the killing and burning of children under any circumstances and only such brutal acts are carried out by the child-killing and racist Zionist regime.
Eighteen-month-old Ali Sa’ad Dawabshah was burnt to death in the early hours of July 31, when Israeli settlers, wearing black balaclavas, smashed a window and threw a Molotov cocktail into the toddlers’ parents’ bedroom while they were asleep in their house in the West Bank village of Duma, south of Nablus. Other members of the family were severely injured in the incident.
The Lebanese Sunni scholar added due to their unjustified thinking, these extremist settlers assume that “the end justifies the means” and under any pretext and means, they strive to expel the Palestinian people from their homeland and confiscate their property. Their homes and settlements, which are illegal under international law, are built on the ruins of Palestinian homes and villages.
Shaykh Daryan stated that killing innocent children and the defenceless people of Palestine are some of the policies used by Zionist regime in order to accomplish their sinister goals.
He added that the burnt body of this innocent Palestinian child is a stain on this regime’s conscience and reputation and a shame for those governments and the international community which have remained silent in the wake of this inhumane act committed by Israel because of the persistent fear of the charge of anti-Semitism.
His Eminence added that the Arab governments’ silence in the wake of this crime is a dishonour for the Arab world who are involved in unnecessary wars for the benefit of those who violate sanctities and confiscate others’ land and property and take lives wantonly.
He stressed that we must deal comprehensively with the usurping Zionist entity, Israel, saying: “When Israeli settlers easily violate Muslim sanctities of Muslims and consider Palestinian lives as worthless, we must stand against them with all our might.”
At the end of his statement, the Grand Mufti of Lebanon stated we request the Arab governments to establish a campaign of truth and justice which is comprised of children from Arab countries to condemn this and other appalling actions which has been carried out by the Zionist regime and convey the oppressed voice of the Palestinian people to the world. “Silence in the face of truth is of the devil,” he warned.
