RNA – Hujjat al-Islam Mohammad Sa’idi delivered a sermon marking Eid al-Fitr, the Festival of the Breaking of the Fast, to a large crowd of worshippers at Qom’s Holy Shrine of Lady Fatimah al-Ma’sumah on Saturday morning.
Speaking to the cheerful believers, the trustee of the Holy Shrine referred to Iran’s recently achieved agreement with the P5+1 group of countries over its nuclear program, saying the agreement was welcomed by many countries who have offered their congratulations to the Iranian government and people.
Despite this, His Eminence stated that the Zionist regime and the House of Saudi stood out as opponents to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, which was signed in Vienna on July 14, 2015. “Both of these regimes were created by the United Kingdom due to their interest to create division and conflict between people,” he said.
Qom’s Friday prayers’ leader emphasized that Israel and Saudi Arabia both follow the strategy of “divide and rule” and said that these two regimes tried through political, military and economic means to prevent this deal but were unsuccessful.
Hujjat al-Islam Sa’idi explained that Saudi Arabia’s ongoing bombardment of Yemen and its encouragement of ISIL terrorists to commit crimes in the region are part of the strategy of divide and rule. Despite this strategy, Iran was ultimately able to reach a positive outcome from the negotiations due to the strong will of the Iranian nation, its Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei, and its negotiating team.
His Eminence added that he hopes that Iranian officials listen to Ayatollah Khamenei’s advice and are vigilant of the other parties in this deal. He said that certain countries are not trustworthy and may try to violate the agreement. “[Ayatollah Khamenei] stressed to our people that they must maintain unity and determination in order to achieve their goals,” he said.
Regarding Islamic teachings in regard to dealing with the enemies, the renowned Shi’a scholar stated that in the Holy Quran, God Almighty says that it is the duty of Muslims to be vigilant and to stand firm against those unbelievers who are hostile toward them people, but we must treat those unbelievers who are friendly toward Muslims and are not inclined toward greed or authority over them with kindness.
Speaking about the blessings of the now-concluded holy month of Ramadan, during which Muslims all over the globe fasted from sunrise until sunset, Hujjat al-Islam Sa’idi emphasized to the believers that they should strive to protect the personal and spiritual benefits they made during this holy month. “Today is not a day of Eid for those who did not observe the sanctity of this month, but rather it is a a day of sorrow and loss,” he stressed.
He added that being God-wary and pious and engaging in acts of worship and charity are best practices at all times.
