RNA – Hujjat al-Islam Sayyid Ammar al-Hakim, the leader of the Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq (ISCI), said during a public meeting at his office in Baghdad that the Iraq is struggling with many crises and problems, including corruption, security issues and disruption to its social services.

He referred to the revolting actions which have been committed by ISIL in the wide swathes of territory that they have taken control of in Iraq and Syria, saying that the infamous jihad al-nikkah or “sex jihad,” is an innovation of the 7th and 8th century Umayyad Caliphate and has no basis in Islam.

The revered Iraqi scholar stressed that ISIL follows in the footsteps of the Umayyad Caliphate through its implementation of torture, theft and other gross violations of Islamic law.

Hujjat al-Islam al-Hakim prayed to God Almighty for victory of the Iraqi Popular Mobilization Forces over the ISIL phenomenon. “The occupying regime of Israel indirectly supports and is complicit with some Western countries who support the ISIL terrorist phenomenon. This regime is responsible for the actions of ISIL,” he said.

His Eminence emphasized the necessity for regional countries to combat terrorism, saying: “The collapse and division of Arab and Islamic countries only benefits the occupying regime of Israel.”
