RNA – Speaking at Laylat al-Qadr (Night of Power) ceremonies in Qom’s Holy Shrine of Lady Fatimah al-Ma’sumah, Ayatollah Ahmad Khatami, a member of the Board of Directors of the Assembly of Experts, stated that all Shi’a and Sunni historians in their historical documents have said that after the Imam Ali (A) was lethally struck by the poisoned sword of Abdul-Rahman ibn Muljam in the mosque of Kufah, the Commander of the Faithful (A) uttered: “By the Lord of the Ka’bah, I have succeeded!”
In regard to this famous sentence, His Eminence said that in the commentary of Raghib al-Isfahani, it is written that the word “fuztu” [I succeeded] means “a well-achieved success” and “I have achieved what I aimed to achieve.”
Ayatollah Khatami explained that Imam Ali (A) stated to the Prophet Muhammad (S) that he was upset that he did not achieve martyrdom in the Battle of Uhud and the Prophet (S) said that martyrdom is waiting for him. Thus, in Kufah, Imam Ali (A) was finally successful in reaching his lofty aim.
Referring to the Quranic verse: “That He may admit the faithful, men and women, into gardens with streams running in them, to remain in them forever, and that He may absolve them of their misdeeds. That is a great success with God” [48:5], His Eminence said that this fundamental point of this verse is directed at the youth because they have gathered in this holy shrine on these Nights of Power because Imam Ali (A) is a role model for the best lifestyle.
“These nights are the best opportunity for the youth to revive their relationship with God and to find serenity in Du’a Jawshan al-Kabir (“Supplication of Great Armour”) in the Holy Shrine. I have never seen anything with this much meaning anywhere else!” he said.
Referring to the upcoming al-Quds Day rallies against the Zionist occupation of Palestine, Ayatollah Khatami said these rallies are an example of the Islamic culture of jihad. “In reality, the al-Quds Day rallies break the glass palaces of the arrogant powers of the world and today, the soul of the arrogant powers is the Zionist regime. Every shout of ‘Death to Israel’ by a Muslim is equivalent to throwing a thrown at the soul of this arrogant power and is a form of worship to God Almighty,” he said.
His Eminence stressed that this year the al-Quds Day rallies will have a special message for the world to disprove the enemies’ claims that Muslims are tired of supporting the deprived and oppressed people of the world.
“Since the victory of the Islamic Revolution, the Iranian people have seen many ‘waves’ but this nation has broken these waves because of their resistance against the enemies who seek to hold Iran back through pressure and excesses,” Ayatollah Khatami added.
