RNA – Grand Ayatollah Naser Makarem-Shirazi has issued a statement in regard to the terrorist act against Kuwaiti Shi’ite worshippers attending Friday prayers at Kuwait City’s Imam al-Sadiq (A) Mosque. The Takfiri terrorist group, ISIL, has claimed responsibility for this heinous crime.
His Eminence offered his condolences and warned that if action is not taken to prevent extremist terrorism, these criminals will never have mercy on anyone – even those who approve of their actions. He added that the supporters of terrorism will soon be overtaken by ISIL.
Ayatollah Makarem-Shirazi’s statement is as follows:
In the Name of God, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
“Indeed we belong to God and to Him do we indeed return” [The Holy Quran 2:156]
A heinous crime has occurred in Kuwait at the hands of Takfiri groups who are not from Islam nor from mankind. That many of our brothers and sisters have been slaughtered shows that these vicious Takfiri groups do not recognize any limits or boundaries. [This event] occurred during the holy month of Ramadan, in a house of God [mosque], on a Friday and killed innocent people – even women and children. This event was the peak of cruelty, barbarism and unbelief which has been unprecedented in history.
We strongly condemn this unprecedented crime and offer our condolences to all the survivors and to all Muslim brothers – both Shi’ites and Sunnis and even non-Muslims. We warn that we will not remain silent in the face of such events. You should know that if the criminals responsible are ever found – those who never show any mercy to anyone – even to those who support them – they will soon be overtaken.
If Muslims join hands to completely eradicate these terrorists, it will not be difficult to accomplish. If this is accomplished today, it is better than tomorrow.
We know for certain that the martyrs of this incident will be gathered with the martyrs from the era of the Noble Prophet (Muhammad) (peace be upon him and his family) and with the martyrs of Karbala and the injured will be also be rewarded as those who injured during the era of the Prophet Muhammad (S) were rewarded.
We call on the respected government of Kuwait to seriously follow this issue and recognize its roots and to strongly punish those responsible to the full extent.
We are with all of the bereaved families and we pray that by God Almighty’s powerful hands, His justice is presented as soon as possible and that this crime wakes Muslims up due and creates awareness among them.
God’s help is indeed near! [Holy Quran: 2:214]
