Rasa – The Turkish government approved the law of banning alcoholic drinks’ advertisment.

Rasa News Agency Reports – In an action that was not pleasant to the secularists in the country, the government of Turkey banned the advertising of alcoholic drinks. Thus there will be more limitations in selling alcoholic drinks.

The new law which needs presidential approval before being practiced has also banned alcohol companies from being a sponsor. The law will also forbid selling and using alcohol in public places.

Turkey is a country with a majority of Muslims but a secular constitution. Nevertheless the Islamic party of “Justice and development”, chaired by Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the Prime minister of Turkey is now ruling the country and its policies are being harshly criticized by secularists.

Since the “Justice and Development” party took office in 2002, there have been serious measures in limiting the use of alcohol. Imposing higher amount of taxes on the alcoholic drinks is one of these measures.
