RNA – The Friday prayers’ leader of the Bahraini town of Diraz, Shaykh Muhammad Sanqour told worshippers gathered in the town’s Imam al-Sadiq (A) Mosque that the Bahraini people have not been weakened nor have they become hopeless despite the many difficulties and challenges they have suffered in the four years since the beginning of the Bahraini revolution.
Shaykh Sanqour referred to the tragedies which have been inflicted on the people of Bahrain, saying that the Bahraini people are prepared for any situation and nothing will crush them.
He added that the Bahraini people have chosen to fight for their religious and legal demands. “Passing through the difficulties inflicted on them has required great sacrifice and the Bahraini people will reach an ultimate victory through their struggle,” he said.
In other part of his Friday sermon, Shaykh Sanqour referred to the four-year prison sentence imposed on Shaykh Ali Salman, the secretary-general of the al-Wefaq National Islamic Society, saying that the sentence was imposed on the Bahraini opposition leader is meant to threaten the people and force them to retreat from their legal demands. “But, the people of Bahrain will never give up their political demands or their legal and legitimate rights,” he stressed.
At the end of his sermon, His Eminence stated that despite the violation of the citizens rights by the Al Khalifa regime in the last few years and the pressure against the people to retreat from their demands, the Bahraini people will patiently achieve all their rights in the face of these difficulties.
Following the Friday prayers, worshippers and protestors in this northwestern Bahraini town staged a rally, where they chanted slogans against the Al Khalifa regime, condemned the recent court ruling against Shaykh Ali Salman and demanded his immediate release and other political prisoners in Bahrain.
On Tuesday, a Bahraini court sentenced the 49-year-old cleric to four years in prison on charges including insulting the Interior Ministry and inciting others to break the law. He was acquitted on charges of seeking regime change.
