RNA – During his Friday prayer sermon delivered to a large and fervent crowd of believers in Qom’s Holy Shrine of Lady Fatimah al-Ma’sumah (S), Hujjat al-Islam Sayyed Mohammad Sa’idi addressed Iran’s negotiating team which is engaged in discussions with the P5+1 group of countries over Iran’s disputed nuclear program saying: “You are frontline combatants in the war of diplomacy and you should know that the people support you. The message of the 270 martyrs is that resistance against the excesses of the oppressors is the key to victory. For this reason, you must be dignified and precise in your defence of the inalienable rights of the Iranian nation.”

The trustee of the Holy Shrine of Lady Fatimah al-Ma’sumah pointed to provision made by the Majles (parliament) requiring the government to maintain Iran’s nuclear achievements, and stressed that the sanctions imposed on Iran by Western powers must be lifted simultaneously with the signing of a final agreement and stressed international inspectors should not be given access to sensitive sites or to nuclear scientists.

His Eminence explained that the mass participation of the Iranian people in the funeral procession of the 270 martyrs, whose bodies were recently recovered some 30 years after the end of the Iran-Iraq war, was an “epic” event.

Iranians welcomed the body of divers who were responsible for breaking the enemy lines during an operation in 1986 with the aim of taking Basra in southern Iraq, but the operation was discovered by the Iraqi army that killed a large number of Iranian military and made others as prisoners.

He added that the message of these 270 martyrs, who included 175 divers who were killed by the forces of the Saddam’s Ba’ath regime during Operation Karbala-4 with their hands tied, is that they will never surrender to the oppressors and aggressors with tied hands, even if the nation surrenders to the oppressors and aggressors with open hands.

Qom’s Friday prayer leaders’ leader emphasized that the Iranian people do not want war, saying: “If anyone comes to our Islamic homeland with thoughts of aggression, we will chase him from our soil with strength and determination.

Referring to the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan, His Eminence explained that Ramadan is a great eid (festival) for Muslims and during this month of fasting and prayer, God Almighty lays forth His mercy for the believers.

“The month of Ramadan is the month of familiarity with the Quran, the Quran causes the divine teachings in the human mind to be strengthened. The misery that Muslim societies are suffering is due to their remoteness from the teachings of God,” he explained.

Hujjat al-Islam Sa’idi referred to verse 4:141 of the Holy Quran, and explained that this verse says Muslims and their lands should not be dominated by the unbelievers. “But unfortunately, the leaders of many countries in the region have opened their countries to the domination of the West. If Muslims increased their familiarity with the Quran, they will be able to defeat the unbelievers and the oppressors,” he explained.

Regarding the martyrdom anniversary of the martyr Mostafa Chamran, the Friday prayers’ leader of Qom said that Martyr Chamran was a scholar who was brave, pious, just and unrelenting during the battle against the enemies, adding: “Universities must train and educate scholars like the Martyr Chamran. Teachers should realize that this cannot be attained through teaching alone but their teaching methods and disposition are also effective in training their students.”
