RNA – Hujjat al-Islam Nabil Qawouq, the vice-president of the Executive Council of Hezbollah in Lebanon, spoke at a ceremony to mark the seventh day after the martyrdom of Jalal Talib Hammadi, a Hezbollah fighter who was martyred in the recent battle against ISIL Takfiri terrorists in the Qalamoun Mountains along the Lebanon-Syria border.

His Eminence noted that Takfiris were trying to use the Qalamoun Mountains as a base to attack Syria and Lebanon.

He said supporters of these terrorist groups applied all of their efforts to create a security base for Takfiris militants. They had used the mountains as a base to commit crimes against Lebanese targets – which included kidnapping military personnel, sending car bombs which killed innocent people and bombing and targeting villages and towns in the Beqaa valley.

He added that when the Islamic Resistance (Hezbollah) decided to attack the Takfiri bases in the strategic Qalamoun Mountains after the winter snows melted, some scheming Lebanese parties bet on the impossibility of launching such a lofty operation.

They claimed, he said, that an operation on Takfiris in the region is impossible because of the vast and rugged terrain would create insurmountable challenges for Hezbollah.

“However, despite all these odds, the Islamic Resistance was successful in their operation and their victory was a strategic and historic achievement for Lebanon in the face of Takfiri terrorism. These terrorists’ defeat was a surprise for them and for those who provided them with support, weapons and financing,” he stated.

Hujjat al-Islam Qawwuq also emphasized that the Qalamoun operation only targeted Takfiri militants and did not harm any of the people of Lebanon.

Qalamoun operation turning point for Lebanon

Referring to the March 14 Alliance’s criticism over the Qalamoun operation, he stated that the March 14 Alliance felt that such an operation would fail and said that this anti-Syria coalition of parties tried to use Takfiri groups as leverage against Hezbollah.

Hujjat al-Islam Qawwuq described the Qalamoun operation as a turning point for Lebanon and added that after the operation, the situation in Lebanon will not be as it was before the operation.

“All of Lebanon, including Hezbollah, have a responsibility to act in the face of Takfiri and Israeli threats,” he explained.

Saudis cause of many problems in Middle East

In another part of his speech, the vice president of the Executive Council of Hezbollah referred to Saudi Arabia’s alliance with al-Qaeda and associated Takfiri groups in their aggression against Yemen, saying the Saudis have exceeded the Zionist entity’s crimes in the southern Lebanese town of Qana and in the Gaza Strip.

Hujjat al-Islam Qawwuq added that the Arab media is biased and is incapable of justifying the crimes of the House of Saud. We should not forget that many of the problems in the Middle East are caused by the unreasonable interference of the Saudi regime.

His Eminence insisted that continuation of the problems facing Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, Bahrain and Yemen are due to Saudi Arabia’s actions. He added that Hezbollah has continued to condemn the Saudi regime’s aggression and stressed that Yemen will not forget the people of Yemen.
