RNA – “The Iranian nation will give you a lesson which will cause you eternal regret,” said Ayatollah Sayyed Ahmad Khatami, whose comments came during a sermon to worshipers at the weekly Friday Prayers in Tehran, according to Press TV.
The Iranian cleric made a reference to the United States' "aggressive" approaches to different countries and said, “The US must stop its interference in Yemen, Bahrain, Syria and Iraq.”
Ayatollah Khatami also pointed to the importance of defending the Iranian nation’s dignity in the nuclear negotiations between Iran and the P5+1 countries and called on Iranian negotiators to refrain from talks under threats.
“Based on the Geneva Conventions, negotiations in an atmosphere of threat are null and void,” the senior Iranian cleric pointed out.
Ayatollah Khatami’s remarks come at a time when representatives of Iran and the P5+1 countries are working to draft a final nuclear deal based on a mutual understanding reached with the six-party group – the US, France, Britain, Russia, China and Germany – in Switzerland last month.
As a comprehensive nuclear deal appears to be in the making between Iran and the P5+1, US Secretary of State John Kerry recently said a military option is still on the table over the issue
