RNA - “The steadfastness and resistance of the Yemeni people against the hegemonic system”, which has been inspired by “the Islamic revolution, is a great achievement,” Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Major General Mohammad Ali Jafari said on Monday.
The Iranian commander said that “regional and trans-regional enemies” have failed to stop Iran’s Islamic revolution from functioning as a role model for other nations.
Ja’afari’s comments came amid the ongoing fatal Saudi airstrikes against Yemen.
Saudi Arabia started its military aggression against Yemen on March 26 - without a UN mandate - in a bid to undermine the Houthi Ansarullah movement and to restore power to the country’s fugitive former president, Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi, who is a staunch ally of Riyadh.
On April 21, Riyadh announced the end of the first phase of its unlawful military operation, but airstrikes have continued with Saudi bombers targeting different areas across the country in a new phase.
Elsewhere in his remarks, the top commander highlighted that military threats are a nonstarter in dealing with Iran.
“Today, the friends and foes have come to the conclusion that military-security threats against the Islamic Revolution won't work,” he explained.
