RNA – Lebanese security services have notified officials who are high on an alleged assassination list issued by a Takfiri terrorist group named Khorasan.

According to a report by Lebanon’s Al Joumhouria newspaper, there have been several threats issued against certain Lebanese officials.

A recent claim states that an obscure armed group calling itself “The Khorasan Group” is planning a terrorist attack against parliament speaker Nabih Berri, a Shi’ite member of the Amal Movement.

Lebanon’s as-Safir newspaper has also reported that security sources obtained information last month warning that Future Movement MPs will be targeted with attacks in an attempt to damage the dialogue between the party and Hezbollah and to create a sectarian strife between Shi’ites and Sunnis in Lebanon.

Rasa News Agency learnt that the infamous Takfiri terrorist group al-Qaedah also seeks to target Nohad al-Mashnouq and Sethrida Tawk-Geagea, both prominent Lebanese politicians.

Other reports also claim that the Russian Embassy in Beirut has been threatened by Chechen members of al-Qaedah. Also, intelligence reports have stated that some members of the al-Nusrah Front are likely to launch a wave of suicide bombings in Lebanon.

It has also been claimed that if Beirut does not accede to the al-Nusrah Front’s demands to release its members who have been captured by the Lebanese army, it will send suicide bombers into Lebanon.

The tiny Persian Gulf kingdom, which enjoys good relations with the terrorist group, is taking a leading role in negotiations for the release of a group of Lebanese soldiers captured by al-Nusrah last August in the northeastern border town of Arsal.

More than thirty soldiers were captured during the clashes between Takfiri militants and the Lebanese armed forces in Arsal. The fighting lasted five days before they were forced back into Syria.

According to the Qatari proposal, for every Lebanese army hostage, ten imprisoned al-Nusrah members will be exchange. A second proposal states that upon the release of every seven al-Nusrah members and thirty women detained in Syria, one Lebanese soldier will captured in Arsal will be released.
