RNA - Tolo News quoted provincial police chief Nabi Jan Mulla Khail as saying that provincial police have found some evidence in Kajaki district where the Taliban and ISIL are fighting against each other in the district.

According to Mullah Khail, Helmand ISIL leader Mullah Abdul Raouf Khadim was killed in February but ISIL still continues its activities and recruits militants in the province.

The first self-proclaimed leader of ISIL in Afghanistan, Raouf also known as Khadem, was killed in February in an Afghan air strike in Kajaki district of Helmand.

The Afghan National Army (ANA) forces in an operation in southern Helmand then killed the alleged commander of ISIL, Hafiz Wahidi, who purportedly succeeded Mullah Abdul Raouf, the Ministry of Defense (MoD) said in a statement on March 16th.

The US-led combat mission in Afghanistan ended on December 31, 2014. However, at least 13,500 foreign forces, mainly from the United States, have remained on the ground in what Washington calls a support mission.

NATO says the forces will focus mainly on counterterrorism operations and training Afghan soldiers and policemen.
