RNA – In an interview with a Lebanese television station, Shaykh Maher Hammoud, the general-secretary of Lebanon’s Union of Scholars in Support of the Islamic Resistance has rejected that claims that he supports of the policies of Hezbollah and Iran, but stated that Hezbollah and the Islamic Republic Iran have the same opinions as he does.
“Those who have made these claims do not know me,” he stated.
The Lebanese Sunni scholar added that the reason for the influence of the statements of such individuals are due to the independence and freedom of opinion in the Muslim world.
Shaykh Hammoud said if any Arabic country would confront the Zionist regime, he would support them with all his strength and added: “Over the past few years, the Iranian authorities have always stayed away from arrogance and resisted he Zionist regime.”
He stated that the House of Saud is cruel and unjust and emphasized that no religious scholar can support the Saudi-led invasion and aggression on Yemen.
Shaykh Hammoud explained that Ansarullah [also known as the Houthis] is part of the “Resistance Axis” and that Saud Arabia is part of the United States’ and Israel’s front because all that Saudi Arabia has done has been in the service of the Zionist regime. Since their invasion of Yemen began, we have seen the Zionist-controlled media has been supportive and satisfied with their operation.
The scholar from Sidon added that Saudi Arabia’s goals in Yemen are like their actions in Syria – they are Israel’s goals, in reality. “If Syria signed an agreement with Israel and did not stand against the US, they would not be dealing with the problems they have today,” he explained.
