RNA – Shaykh Abdul-Adhim Hamad al-Jabbouri, the leader of the Council of Sunni Scholars of Iraq’s Salahuddin province, has severely condemned the criticism against the Shi’ite militia groups who are fighting against the DAESH (ISIL) terrorists in northern and western Iraq. He stated that these forces are innocent of all charges made against them.

He said that the militias had liberated the city of Tikrit from the DAESH terrorists who have destroyed the city. He emphasized that it is illogical to ignore the sacrifices of the Shi’ite militia groups in liberating the city, which was the ex-Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein’s hometown and stronghold.

On March 31, Iraq’s Prime Minister Haidar al-Abadi said that units of government forces, backed by Shia and Sunni volunteer forces, had managed to retake control of the city of Tikrit and its province Salahuddin after heavy battles with the ISIL terrorists, who had seized Tikrit in June last year.

Shaykh al-Jabbouri stated that the criticism made by certain politicians in regard to the militia groups was unacceptable. “We request from political groups to abstain from allowing the issue surrounding the presence of militia groups in Salahuddin province to enter into political disagreements and to support these forces so that they can liberate Mosul.”

The leader of the Council of Sunni Scholars of Salahuddin explained that the leaders of the militia groups must be made aware of the mistakes made during the liberation of Tikrit and prevent the actions of those who are trying to distort the depiction of the militia groups.

It should be mentioned that Abd Dhiyab al-Ajili, a Sunni member of parliament has emphasized that those who loot in any of the areas liberated in Salahuddin have stolen and damaged the property of their fellow citizens.
