RNA – During his Friday prayer sermon delivered to a large and fervent crowd of believers in Qom’s Holy Shrine of Lady Fatimah al-Ma’sumah (S), Ayatollah Sayyed Hashem Hoseyni-Bushehri spoke of this weeks’ current religious and political events, emphasizing the importance of the mutual understanding over Iran’s nuclear program reached on Thursday night with the P5+1 group of countries, the Saudi-led invasion of Yemen and the liberation of the Iraqi city of Tikrit.
The day after Iran and the P5+1 group of countries announced a mutual understanding after eight days of intensive nuclear negotiations in Lausanne, Switzerland, Ayatollah Bushehri stated that Iran has been negotiating over its right to peaceful nuclear technology for almost thirteen years and the Islamic Republic of Iran has shown the world that its position is logical. He added that Iranians should appreciate the efforts and dedication of the nuclear negotiating team.
The director of the Islamic Seminaries of Iran stressed that the agreement reached in Lausanne was not binding as it is only a framework to a final deal, saying: “A conclusive nuclear agreement will not be signed until June 30. Iran’s nuclear negotiating team is supported by the people and the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran (Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei) but the points that I will mention must be considered in the final agreement.”
Ayatollah Bushehri stated that sanctions should be removed concurrent with the signing of a permanent agreement and the agreement should be written clearly with no differences between its various versions.
He added that Iran cannot accept that its industries should stop its peaceful nuclear program and research activities. “Iran must have enough centrifuges to meet the needs of its industries and our negotiators should be prepared for any opposition to a final agreement from the other side,” he warned in response to the threats from several American politicians to overturn any possible deal.
The renowned scholar also referred to the war in Yemen, saying that it is regrettable that Yemen was attacked and has suffered widespread destruction due to the actions of the neighbouring Saudi regime and its allies. Hundreds of innocent Yemeni citizens have been martyred by the Saudis so far and Yemen also had its already weak economic infrastructure and hospitals targeted. “The Yemeni nation is a country of resistance and any country that interferes in Yemen will become caught in a quagmire,” he stressed.
In conclusion, Ayatollah Bushehri expressed his happiness over the liberation of the Iraqi city of Tikrit from the DAESH (ISIL) terrorists, adding: “We seek independence and dignity for Iraq and from the first day, we were on the side of the Iraqi people and we will stay with them until the final victory.”
