RNA – Leading Qom’s weekly Friday congregational prayers at the Holy Shrine of Lady Fatimah al-Ma’sumah (S), Hujjat al-Islam Sayyed Mohammad Sa’idi spoke of this weeks’ major Iranian and international events in the second part of his sermon.
The trustee of the Holy Shrine of Lady Fatimah al-Ma’sumah referred to the coincidence of the usually joyous Persian New Year, Norouz, and the sorrowful Days of Fatimiyyah saying: “Our people should respect the sanctity of the martyrdom of Lady Fatimah az-Zahra (SA) and respect her by holding mourning ceremonies.”
He continued, saying: “However, even if Norouz does not coincide with any days of mourning, our people should observe respect toward these days and avoid celebrating holidays which are contrary to the sanctity of Islamic observances.”
Hujjat al-Islam Sa’idi pointed to the Norouz remarks made by Iran’s Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei, where he gave guidance and food for thought to the people and government for the Persian year of 1394.
The renowned scholar said that Ayatollah Khamenei emphasized that throughout the year the Iranian people should promote their faith and spirituality, power and dignity on both the regional and global scenes, economic development and justice, administrative justice, and academic development.
Hujjat al-Islam Sa’idi added that in order for the Leader’s recommendations to be realized properly, the Iranian people must sincerely accept these values, give them importance and apply them. The people must understand that the government is working to serve them and they should trust that the government is doing what is best for their interests.
He emphasized the might of the Islamic system of governance is one of the blessings achieved by the late Imam Ruhollah Khomeini and the pure blood sacrificed by Iran’s martyrs. According to Islamic teachings, the government has requirements to which it is bound by – its leaders must establish prayer, charity, enjoin the good and forbid the wrong. These requirements are the foundation of all rules and requirements and it is necessary that the government realize them in order to maintain the authority of the Islamic system of government.
Qom’s Friday prayers’ leader stressed that officials should not indifferent to criticism and the underlying issues facing the country. The authorities must not assume that the peoples’ criticism is equivalent to distrust of the Islamic revolution and the Islamic system of government.
Regarding the United States’ animosity toward Iran, Hujjat al-Islam Sa’idi explained that US president, Barack Obama, has inferred that if Iran wants the sanctions to be removed, Iran must submit to the US. “Throughout the negotiations with the P5+1 group of countries, Iran has witnessed the US and other Western countries’ excuses and excesses and for this reason, Ayatollah Khamenei has stated with insight and power that Iran and its negotiating team cannot accept American bullying,” he explained.
In another part of his speech, Hujjat al-Islam Sa’idi discussed Saudi Arabia’s recent invasion of Yemen, saying that foreign governments and their regional mercenaries have come together to attack the oppressed and deprived Yemeni people who only seek to form an independent state based on a popular vote. Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia does not have a constitution nor is it a government based on a popular vote. “These so-called Muslim states, do not say a word when Israel attacks and murders innocent Palestinian people, but when the Zionist interests are compromised, they act and engage in war with Muslims,” he emphasized.
In conclusion, His Eminence stressed that the Saudi regime is the main player in the creation of the civil war in Syria and has also played a major role in Egypt, Libya and Bahrain. Again, we are witnessing the same thing occurring in Yemen.
“We are hopeful that the same lesson in unity that the Bahraini people gave to the Saudis, will become a lesson for everyone,” he stated.
