RNA – Ayatollah Ahmad Alamolhoda, Mashhad’s Friday prayer leader, explained the main points of the speech with the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution (Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei) on the occasion of Norouz, the Persian New Year.
Speaking about the economy, he stressed the role of the government in protecting it and the importance of creating an atmosphere compassion and dialogue between the government and the nation.
Mentioning Ayatollah Khamenei’s slogan for the new Persian year of 1394, “Government and Nation: Solidarity and Harmony,” Ayatollah Alamolhoda stated that this slogan is centred around an axis of the issue of the Islamic system of governance, as well as its management, stabilization and sovereignty.
His Eminence noted that despite the fact that all these points seem like different and contradictory issues, they all constitute different axes of one system and emphasized that the Islamic system of governance is an integrated system.
Ayatollah Alamolhoda explained that Ayatollah Khamenei has mentioned that economic issues must implemented with empathy and compassion. The “resistance economy” means that people should not spend money improperly and should strive to avoid the purchase of luxury and foreign goods and buy only domestic goods. The government has responsibilities to develop production, realize domestic possibilities and take advantage of these possibilities to strengthen the economy.
He also explained that the Iranian nation should not be afraid of the Iran’s negotiations with the P5+1 group of countries over Iran’s disputed nuclear energy program because all final decisions will go before Ayatollah Khamenei and the Parliament who will prevent anything which is not in the best interests of the Islamic Republic of Iran. He also emphasized that Iran’s negotiating team are religious people and thus, trustworthy to safeguard Iran’s best interests.
Ayatollah Alamolhoda continued by stating that the United States’ conduct during the meetings with Iran’s negotiating team were not in the spirit of negotiation because the US has sought to pressure Iran to submit to their will by stating that Iran should stop its enrichment program for one-and-half years before lifting the sanctions.
He added that Ayatollah Khamenei rejected this, saying that Iran’s main concern is not to remove the sanctions but rather to remove the West’s false concerns that Iran is developing nuclear weapons. We cannot allow the West to stop Iran’s technological progress. He emphasized that since the negotiations began, the West has increased their pressures and have not lifted any sanctions but they expect us to remain quiet!
