RNA – In a lecture to group of scholars and sources of emulation from the southeastern townships of Tehran province, Grand Ayatollah Hoseyn Nouri-Hamadani expressed the character and morality expected of seminarians. Besides duties such as prayer and recitation of the Holy Quran, Ayatollah Nouri-Hamadani emphasized the importance of being aware of the issues facing the world, especially those effecting the Muslim community, both at home and abroad, stressing the words of the late Imam Ruhollah Khomeini (RA): “If a scholar is not aware of the issues of the day, he is not a scholar.”
Ayatollah Nouri-Hamadani pointed to heavy attacks by the Western media and various websites against Islam adding that they propagate misinformation and doubts in regard to various issues, and that it is the duty of seminarians to provide answers and correct their propaganda and thus must strengthen their abilities and knowledge to deal with this propagation.
The revered source of emulation explained that the main goal of Takfiri groups, such as DAESH (ISIL) and Boko Haram, is distort and tarnish the true face of Islam. “They seek to question the merciful face of Islam by creating [an environment] of fear and intimidation,” he argued.
Given these exceptional circumstances, seminarians must strengthen their knowledge of the religious science so that they can introduce true Islam to the world, especially the Shi’ah school of thought. He also stated that the roots of the Salafi and Takfiri phenomena must be thoroughly researched and criticized so that the questions and issues raised by these deviant sects can be answered.
Ayatollah Nouri-Hamadani also called for efforts to realize the ideals of the Islamic Revolution, the Islamic system of governance, Iran’s martyrs and leadership.
Referring to the influence of Ayatollah Khamenei’s words in the light of his recent letter to the youth of Europe and North America, which received widespread coverage in various media outlets, Ayatollah Nouri-Hamadani stated that His Eminence’s words need to be analyzed and that the seminarians must stay on the path of Imam Khomeini and Ayatollah Khamenei.
