Indian leader downplays US dictation on oil import from Iran

Dr. Dov Zakheim senior defence advisor to Romney Campaign last week said that New Delhi should not buy even an ounce of oil from Iran.

Talking to IRNA, senior leader and Congress Spokesperson, Rashid Alvi said: “India has a long relationship with Iran. We need oil supplies from Iran and the government is free to take decisions on the basis of its requirements”.

He noted that attaching foremost importance to its national interest, India will continue oil import from Iran and would never allow its sovereignty to be affected by anybody’s dictation on the issue.

He further noted that at the end of the day we will take decision as per our own compulsions and requirements. “Neither we will take notice of the dictation nor will succumb to the pressures,” Alvi concluded.
