RNA –In a meeting with a group of police personnel, Grand Ayatollah Hoseyn Nouri-Hamadani explained that the United States and other countries that are on the opposite side of the nuclear negotiations are constantly giving excuses and explained that the Americans don’t want Iran present at the negotiations. They spread propagation that the progress of Iran’s Islamic system is suffering. “From the beginning, they have been striving to subvert our system,” he explained.
His Eminence referred to the fact that Iran’s negotiating team held many meetings and went to a lot of trouble in an effort to show the world that Iranians are a people of reason and argument, adding: “What we are saying is that we want abide by our God-given rights to develop a [peaceful] nuclear energy program. What rights do you have [over us] and what reasons do you have to prevent us from achieving [our goals]?!”
The renowned source of emulation added: “We understand fully the opposing side – The United States and France are the same countries that supported Saddam during the eight-year-long Holy Defence [Iran-Iraq War] and provided him with a variety of weapons in order to fight against Iran. During the years after the Islamic Revolution, Imam Khomeini (RA) removed the masks from the face of the arrogant powers and presented their [true motives] not to Iran only, but rather to the entire world.”
Ayatollah Nouri-Hamadani stated that in the Holy Quran, God Almighty stated: “...Yet all might belongs to God and His Apostle and the faithful, but the hypocrites do not know” [63:8]. He explained that God wants us to have respect and take steps to maintaining and strengthening this respect. Respect has principles which God has explained and we are ordered to learn them and live our life by these principles.
The revered teacher of the Islamic Seminary of Qom explained that one of the most important principles of Islam is not to violate one’s own dignity. This is so that we can avoid falling into dependence and submissiveness of others. He explained that in the Holy Quran, God warns the believer not to take the Jews or Christians as guardians and not to place oneself under their authority. They make you smile and hold your hands but many of them have an enmity against you in their hearts. Sometimes this enmity is apparent and sometimes it is kept secret in their hearts. “With a smile, the enemy seek to endanger one’s dignity,” he warned.
Ayatollah Nouri-Hamadani said that faith in God is the first principle in strengthening one’s dignity and added that faith in Islamic values has an important role. With this same faith and belief, the Iranian nation can help the Islamic Revolution reach fruition. During the 8-year-long Holy Defence, Iran stood against 32 countries which aided Saddam. They were victorious due to their spirit of jihad, martyrdom and sacrifice under the shadow of faith in God, which God placed in every single person.
In conclusion, His Eminence stated that scientific development, the establishment of an Islamic government, Islamic unity, military power are other areas which Iran has made progress in due to its following of these aforementioned principles of dignity.
