RNA – People celebrating the anniversary shouted epic slogans of the Islamic Revolution as a sign of their steadfastness and resistance against the arrogant powers of the world and showed their love of the Islamic Revolution and its lofty values to the world.

The 1979 Islamic Revolution has been called by many as an event which “shook the world,” and the sight of huge crowds of people on the streets shows that it still has the power to do so, 36 years later.

Reports show that the main squares and streets of different cities throughout Iran were filled with millions of Iranians who shout slogans emphasizing their national unity and their spirit of resistance. Many were heard shouting or holding banners and signs saying “We will resist up until the end!”

According to reports, more than 265 foreign journalists and 1,500 journalists, photographers as well as Iranian journalists were present in Tehran and more than 2,800 journalists, photographers and documented the rallies in other towns and cities of Iran.

Among Iranian journalists, 350 journalists from IRIB’s various channels were stationed throughout Iran to cover the rallies.

The main speaker at a huge rally in Tehran’s Azadi Square was Dr Hassan Rouhani, the Iranian president. In his speech, he emphasized the government’s determination to solve the country’s problems, saying: “The West must abandon its excuses, lying and [remove their] oppressive sanctions.”

President Rouhani added that as the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution [Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei] said, the government seeks an honourable agreement which respects the country’s progress.

In the holy city of Qom, clerics, scholars and sources of emulation attended a large rally. Several sources of emulation had earlier described a mass turnout at the rallies as a proof of the peoples’ loyalty to the Islamic Revolution and to the true form of Islam revived by Imam Khomeini in the face of the Western media’s propaganda war against the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The main speaker at Qom’s massive rally was Hujjat al-Islam Sayyed Mohammad Sa’idi, trustee of the Holy Shrine of Lady Fatimah al-Ma’sumah. In his speech, His Eminence explain the benefits and achievements of the Islamic Revolution.

Iranians chanted slogans renewing their covenant with lofty values of the Islamic Revolution and the sacred system of Wilayat al-Faqih (Guardianship of the Jurisprudent) as a sign that the only way to deal with enemies and oppressors of the world is to stand firm of these principles and values. Any decline in these values can be considered as a sign of the arrogance of the Western powers.
