RNA – At the start of his Ba’th al-Kharij class at Qom’s Masjid al-A’dham (Grand Mosque), Grand Ayatollah Naser Makarem-Shirazi condemned the killing of innocent people in Pakistan.

60 people were killed and dozens injured in a bomb attack on a Shi’ite Muslim mosque and religious centre in the town of Shikarpur, about 470 kilometres north of Karachi.

Local security officials said the attack took place when Shi’ite worshipers were performing Friday prayers.

This is the latest deadly incident in a wave of violence against the Shi’ite community in Pakistan. Jundullah, a Takfiri terrorist group, which has pledged allegiance to ISIL, have claimed responsibility for this and similar terrorist attacks in the violence-wracked country.

Human rights groups have faulted the government and security services for failing to protect Shi’ites adequately or pursuing those responsible with sufficient effort.

Shi’ite Muslims around the globe have not only described this event as an act of terrorism, but a “Shi’ah genocide.”

In case there was any doubt as to their goal, Jundullah’s spokesman confirmed: “Our target was the Shi’ah community… They are our enemies.”

The renowned source of emulation stated that the tragedy is a result of Takfiri and Wahhabi thought and teachings. His Eminence reiterated that Takfiri terrorists murdered many innocent people and injured many more, which constitutes a great crime, saying: “This [event] was a painful crime and it is necessary to fight against extremist teachings and thought.”

“We strongly condemn this crime – terrorist acts are condemnable wherever they
occur,” Ayatollah Makarem-Shirazi stressed.

The teacher in the Holy Seminary of Qom stated that all of these groups are branches of the evil and cursed tree of Takfirism and Wahhabism, stressing: “What teachings do these criminal, murdering  criminals, unconscionable and brutal animalistic people follow that  allow them to murder innocent men, women and children in a ‘house of God’ [mosque]!”

Ayatollah Makarem-Shirazi added: “Where in human history have such actions occurred? We must reasonably root out this evil from the tree of Takfirism so that all Shi’ites and all Sunnis can live together comfortably.”

At the end of his lecture, Ayatollah Makarem-Shirazi requested his students to pray for the souls of those innocent people killed in this tragic terrorist event.
