Ayatollah Alavi-Gorgani:
Rasa – Ayatollah Sayyed Mohammad-Ali Alavi-Gorgani has met with members of the Congress of Basiji Student Martyrs of Qom, where His Eminence spoke of the great blessings of the Iranian Islamic Revolution on the eve of Iran’s Ten-Day Dawn celebrations.

RNA – Speaking to those gathered, Ayatollah Alavi-Gorgani referred to the lofty status of martyrs and martyrdom in society, and he added that the martyrs are a privilege and are one of the [many] blessings given by God to the Islamic Republic of Iran.

 

He said that the Islamic Revolution was a popular and public movement and explained that the movement of Imam Khomeini (RA) was established in the context of framing the nation in a way that engaged all segments of society.

 

Ayatollah Alavi-Gorgani emphasized that the Islamic Revolution shocked the world and that preparations for the 1979 Islamic Revolution lasted for 25 years and much blood was shed as Iranians sought to overthrow the oppressive Pahlavi regime.

 

The renowned source of emulation explained that the West and the East strived hard to make sure the Islamic Revolution failed but they were not successful in their plots. “This revolution influenced all of society – all merchants, university students and seminary students and soldiers strove hard together [to bring the Revolution to fruition],” he stated.

 

He pointed out that the path of the martyrs continues, and added that our responsibilities in this area are heavy, saying: “We should spend all our energy towards on the path of the great martyrs because we are indebted to the dear martyrs for the independence of the country and the stability of the Islamic Revolution.”

 

Ayatollah Alavi-Gorgani emphasized the need to prevent the influence of foreigners in Iran. “The hands of the enemies are striving to sabotage all levels of society and they seek to distract the Islamic Revolution and we must confront them,” he explained.

 

He noted that the enemy go to the battlefield wearing the clothing of the truthful and with sacred aims but in reality they seek to lead the children of the Islamic Revolution astray and deceive them. “We must be very cautious in this area and not allow them to achieve their goals,” he said.

 

He also stressed that the Iranian Islamic Revolution is very different from all other revolutions which have occurred throughout the world, explaining that “our Revolution is based on religion and a lot of blood has been shed for it.”

 

Speaking on the role of women in the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Alavi-Gorgani stated that “we must not allow the goals of Imam [Khomeini] and the Revolution to be led astray and the honour of women in society to be manipulated. One of the goals of the movement of Imam Khomeini (RA) was to lift the honour, respect and position of women in society.”
