RNA - Mehdi Norouzi, an Iranian member of the Basij forces martyred in Iraq fighting with ISIL terrorists.

The member of the volunteer combatants was martyred on Saturday night while defending the holy shrine of Samarra in Iraq.

According to Iran’s official Fars News, Mehdi left for Iraq to defend the holy shrines there and the people of Iraq against ISIL terrorist forces.

Iran also lost one of its military officers fighting ISIL, back in December, as the Brigadier General Hamid Taqavi lost his life while conducting the mission in cooperation with the Iraqi army and popular mobilization forces to counter the ISIL Takfiri militants in the vicinity of the holy shrine of Imam Hasan al-Askari.

Iran has repeatedly stressed that it has not changed its policy in dealing with the ISIL terrorists and the Islamic Republic continues to provide support to both countries against ISIL in the form of defense consultancy and humanitarian aid.

Tehran has also refused to join the so-called US-led coalition against ISIL in Iraq and Syria.

The Takfiri militants have been carrying out horrific acts of violence, including public decapitations and crucifixions, against all Syrian and Iraqi communities such as Shias, Sunnis, Kurds, Christians and Izadi Kurds.
