RNA – During a meeting with a number of officials from Qom’s al-Mustafa International University, Grand Ayatollah Hoseyn Nouri-Hamadani stressed the need to promote unity between Sunnis and Shi’ites, saying: “There is no doubt that the issue of unity is one of the most important issues in the Muslim world. This is because the enemy is working to weaken Islamic unity and expand the differences [between the various schools of thought].”
He pointed to the Quranic verse where God Almighty has said: “...But why should not there a group from each of their sections go forth to become learned in religion, and to warn their people when they return to them, so that they may beware?” [9:122]
His Eminence noted that the that this verse’s meaning is very broad, broader than its [apparent] message, which is to warn the people of the consequences of their actions.
Ayatollah Nouri-Hamadani stated that al-Mustafa International University has embodied this blessed verse, though it will have to take advantage of its students and graduates to demonstrate the various dimensions of the religion of Islam to the world. He recommended that this university, which educates over 20,000 students from 65 more than different countries, that it should focus on specialized study to be more effective.
The revered source of emulation noted the importance of awareness of world affairs and knowing what is going on in the world, stressing that the students studying at al-Mustafa International should know how to deal with the demands of the people they preach to and seek to address these demands so that they can spread authentic Islam and distinguish it from other religions.
Ayatollah Nouri-Hamadani said the world today is suffering from a great many problems, and there are solutions to all of them in the Muslim religion. Hence, al-Mustafa International University students must be armed with the necessary knowledge to enable them to respond to the deviant trends and organizations such as Boko Haram and the like.
He pointed to the economic problems facing the West and explained that we must apply Islamic economic theories of Islam because the economic situation has a major impact on society. He also added that in the current era, Wahhabism has advocates in most cities and countries, emphasizing that we must confront and counter this dangerous ideology with authentic Islam and disseminate authentic knowledge in order to thwart the Salafi and Takfiri project.
In conclusion, His Eminence stressed that seminarians should be role models of Islamic ethical traditions, stressing that morality and self-control of the things necessary for preachers. It is recognized that the moral behaviour of preachers has an effect on their audience. of mortgage morals, and this makes it imperative for them to follow the perfect example of the Prophet Muhammad and the Infallible Imams.
