RNA – Iran’s Deputy Intelligence Minister Mohammad Pour-Fallah says “Enemies have established 17 satellite channels in the name of Shia (Islam)” adding that the Intelligence Minister has closed down their office inside the country.

The officials did not give further information about the location of their office but in a similar report last August, the Intelligence Ministry announced the closure of a number of foreign-based satellite channels across the country which were mainly located in the holy city of Qom, Isfahan, Tehran and Khorasan Razavi.

According to Rasa News, The report also indicated that a number of people were arrested over their “clandestine and illegal” activities.

The channels were producing programs aimed at creating sectarian rifts and “intensifying division in the Muslim World to damage the image of Shiism,” it noted.

The ministry added the channels were serving the interests of certain foreign intelligence services and global arrogance.
