Ayatollah Alavi-Gorgani regarding different dimensions of Prayer mentioned a narration from Imam Ja’far as-Sadiq about the importance of prayer and added: “The best [form of] worship is that which reflects the relationship between the creation and the Creator. Prayer is such and this connection should not be cut.”

He pointed to the status of prayer in Islam, saying that in Islam there are four thousand doors to heaven, and one thousand of these doors are opened especially for prayer. His Eminence also emphasized the importance of humility in prayer and emphasized that when people pray they should pay special attention to their relationship with God.
“Prayer is the foundation and strength of Islam and its importance must be explained to society in order to built a culture of prayer. We must pay attention to the remembrance of God in prayer, and when we are busy in prayer, we must pay attention to what we are reciting,” Ayatollah Alavi-Gorgani explained.
The renowned source of emulation lamented the neglect of prayer, and said: “Unfortunately, now it is such that some Shi’ites do not give much importance to prayer while many of our Sunni brothers give it more importance than we do. At the time of prayer, they stop all their work and go pray at the beginning of the time of prayer.”
Ayatollah Alavi-Gorgani pointed out that thanking God is an instinctive and divine duty and it is a confirmation of our gratitude to God: “We have to perform our worship in this manner because thanking God is our instinctive and divine duty. A society which gives up thanking God faces deviation. Prayer is a deterrent against corruption and vice in society which God bestowed this form of worship as a method to prevent mankind from engaging in prohibited actions.”
Also at the meeting, Hujjat al-Islam Ali Darabi, the director of specialized training at the Islamic Propagation Organization which organized the conference, delivered a report of the conference.
