RNA – Noting the role and importance of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the Islamic world, Hujjat al-Islam Benaei explained that since the first days of the Islamic Revolution until now, the arrogant countries of the world have repeatedly tried to divert or overthrow the popular Islamic Revolution. Referring to the sedition of 1999, Hujjat al-Islam Benaei stated: “Since the beginning of the Revolution, they have plotted against the Islamic Revolution but due to the wise insight and planning of Imam Khomeini, the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution (Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei) and the awareness of the Iranian people, the [enemies’] seditious plans were foiled. From 1999 until 2009 economic, cultural and political plots continued until the sedition of 2009 began after the [re-election of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad].”
His Eminence explained that the awareness of the people and their good performance can frustrate the enemy and prevent them from achieving their goals.
He explained that the sedition of 2009 was a “golden leaf” for the honour of the Islamic Revolution and the Iranian people because despite the “deafening noises” made by the arrogant powers against the Islamic Revolution, the Iranian people trusted Ayatollah Khamenei. Instead, they were not drawn toward the protests and thwarted the plans of the arrogant powers. By believing in the system of Wilayat al-Faqih (Guardianship of the Jurisprudent) and maintaining its values, they insured the future of the Islamic Revolution.
Hujjat al-Islam Benaei explained that there was a misunderstanding of the seditious events of 2009, stating that the protests were organized and were not random events as the Western media claims. The sedition was drawn up in a planning room. All the roles and were expertly planned from the beginning. “Ignoring the role of the many of the people who provoked and fanned this sedition is not possible,” he explained.
Regarding the views of some of the politicians about the leaders of the sedition, Hujjat al-Islam Benaei explained that President Hassan Rouhani will never cross the red lines laid down by Ayatollah Khamenei: “We know him – he is a politician, revolutionary and is familiar with the issues of the day and has had many great responsibilities in the past. He saw the sedition of 2009 and he realizes all the dangers of that sedition brought to the Islamic system and knows the negative effects it has on the present.”
“It can be seen from President Rouhani’s policies that he will not seek forgiveness for the seditionists or ignore them,” he added.
