On Tuesday morning, Ayatollah Sayyed Ali al-Sistani, a renowned source of emulation, received visiting Iranian parliament speaker Ali Larijani at his office in the Iraqi holy city of Najaf where they exchanged viewpoints on the latest developments in Iraq with him.
Mr Larijani had arrived in Holy Najaf minutes after midnight, early Tuesday morning in a continuation of his regional tour of Lebanon, Syria and Iraq.
“I informed Ayatollah Sistani about Iran’s steps to sustaining stability in region,” Mr Larijani told media.
Other sources of jurisprudence in Mr Larijani’s agenda of Tuesday visits include Ayatollah Muhammad-Ishaq al-Fayadh, Ayatollah Sayyed Mohammad-Sa’id al-Hakim and Ayatollah Bashir al-Najafi.
On Tuesday afternoon, Mr Larijani will head to Karbala to pay homage to the holy shrines of Imam Husayn and his faithful brother His Holiness Abul-Fadhl al-Abbas.
He will begin his meetings and consultations in Baghdad on Wednesday, which include meeting the Iraqi president, prime minister, parliament speaker and a group of other Iraqi personalities and political leaders.
