Speaking in Qom, Iran this Sunday, at the World Congress on Extremist and Takfiri Movements in the Islamic Scholars’ View, the Iraqi Foreign Minister Ibrahim al-Ja’fari called on Muslim scholars to enlighten the world people about Takfiri groups and the horrors they commit in the name of Islam.

“It is the duty of Muslim scholars to enlighten the people about the terrorist acts which are taking place in the name of Islam,” Ja’fari stressed.

He reminded his audience that Takfiris are not simply targeting Shi’ite communities, but all communities, regardless of their religious inclinations or preferences. “The Takfiri terrorists attacked the Sunni-controlled areas even before other areas; Mosul is a Sunni-populated area in Iraq that was first attacked by the Takfiris and the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL),” he said.

Hailing Iran’s efforts in bringing together Sunni and Shi’ite clerics and scholar, al-Ja’fari urged all to consider ISIL the real enemy of Islam.

Addressing a group of Quran reciters, Iran Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei emphasized “the enemies’ intelligence apparatus” plays a role in fuelling civil conflicts in a number of Islamic communities.

Praising the deep level of insight of the Islamic ummah, Ayatollah Khamenei underscored, “The enemies of Islam are afraid of this fact and try to confront Islam in the name of Islam and under the cover of Islam.”
