RNA – In an exclusive interview with Rasa News Agency, Ayatollah Ahmad Khatami, the temporary Friday prayer leader of Tehran, pointed to the importance of establishment of “World Congress on Extremist and Takfiri Movements from the Viewpoint of Muslim Scholars.”
His Eminence stated that the appearance of the Takfiri phenomenon in the Islamic world was created by the arrogant countries as a method of fighting against the Islamic Awakening.
“These terrorists have distorted the face of pure Muhammadan Islam for the entire world and have deepened the divisions in the Islamic world due to the creation of the Takfiri phenomenon by the arrogant countries of the world. There is no doubt that the creation of these Takfiri groups is the work of the arrogant countries, especially the black-faced United States and the imperialistic United Kingdom,” he stated.
The roots of the Takfiri phenomenon can be traced back to Wahhabism and Wahhabism itself is a creation of the arrogant and imperialist powers. “The alliance against ISIL is actually working to strengthen the Takfiri phenomenon,” he stated.
Ayatollah Khatami explained that the bombing of Syria by the foreign alliance which claims to be fighting against Takfiri terrorists is just an excuse to harm and strike at Syria’s government.
In another part of the interview, the renowned scholar discussed several strategies to fight against extremism and Takfirism and stated that the best strategy is the establishment of “World Congress on Extremist and Takfiri Movements from the Viewpoint of Muslim Scholars.”
His Eminence said this congress will help propagate a clear message that terrorism is foreign to Islam. This will be explained at the congress and the participators will stress that the arrogant countries of the world created this terrorist phenomenon to fight against pure Muhammadan Islam.
Ayatollah Khatami added that Ayatollah Naser Makarem-Shirazi and Ayatollah Ja’far Sobhani will head this conference. The establishment of this conference is necessary and important for the Islamic world in this current era.
