RNA – Grand Ayatollah Sayyed Mohammad-Ali Alavi-Gorgani has met with a group of police commanders and managers and those participating in a course.

Offering his condolences on the tragic martyrdom anniversary of Imam Husayn, Ayatollah Alavi-Gorgani stated that all that we have is due to the blessings of Imam Husayn. “If Imam Husayn did not rise up [against oppression], not even the name of Islam would remain and we would not have prayer, fasting or other Islamic practices,” he stated.

The revered source of emulation stated that the system of Wilayat al-Faqih (Guardianship of the Jurisprudent) in the Islamic Republic of Iran is also a blessing of the Ahlul-Bayt. “Imam Husayn’s [revolution] was not just for Shi’ites but rather it was for all Muslims and all people of truth,” Ayatollah Alavi-Gorgani said.

“Unfortunately, due to their [corrupt] leaders, many people are not familiar with the truth of the school of the Infallible Imams [Shi’ah Islam] and the event of Karbala and Imam Husayn,” he added.

The renowned teacher in the Islamic Seminary of Qom referred to verses of the Holy Quran where God stressed upon taking advice from others, saying: “Today, there are many who say ‘what use does enjoining the good and forbidding the wrong have?’ because people ignore their advice because they want to be free”... However, due to the new forms of media, the veil is being slowly lifted and people are becoming more aware of other schools of thought.”

In another part of his speech, Ayatollah Alavi-Gorgani stressed that Iran’s Islamic system of government is the best in the world and that all our efforts should be to serve this system. “If people who do not accept or believe in the system [want to work for the government], it is not possible for them to [successfully] move forward. They must serve the Islamic system faithfully.”

His Eminence pointed out that Iran [undoubtedly] has problems, but these problems are not due to Islam, because Islam does not have problems, but it is Muslims who have defects in their behaviour. Thus, Iran’s problems are not with the Islamic system of government, but rather the problems are of our own creation.

“If Islam was correctly implemented in Iran, the entire world would be absolutely amazed by it,” he added.
