RNA – Grand Ayatollah Lotfallah Safi-Golpaygani has met with Dr Moayad, the new Iranian ambassador to the Kingdom of Morocco at his office in the holy city of Qom.

His Eminence told the ambassador to Rabat: “there is no doubt that Morocco is one of the major Islamic countries and the establishment of constructive relations with Morocco would achieve Islamic objectives in the field of unity and addressing the enemies... this will preserve our integrity.”

“Today, more than ever, there must be communication between Islamic countries. We should take action to explain the lofty values of the Islamic religion and the holy school of thought of the Ahlul-Bayt in order to expose the enemies’ schemes, especially sectarianism and the Takfiri phenomenon, which has harmed the compassionate image of Islam and vilified Muslims in the eyes of the world.”

In another aspect of his speech, Ayatollah Safi-Golpaygani stated that the Moroccan people have great respect for the Infallible Ahlul-Bayt. “The king himself comes from a family of nobles who descend from Imam Hasan al-Mujtaba,” he said.

The revered source of emulation added that he once met King Muhammad V, the grandfather of the current king Muhammad VI while on pilgrimage to the Holy Shrine of Imam Husayn in the Iraqi holy city of Karbala. The king respectfully took some holy dust from the holy shrine to remember the Imam.

Ayatollah Safi-Golpaygani expressed his hope and offered his prayers for the success of the “critical” mission of the new ambassador. He also stated that he hopes that Dr Moayad can play an important role in helping the two nations protect their genuine interests and play a role in bringing them closer together.

His Eminence also stated that Iranian scholars and Moroccan scholars must have continuous communication in order to exchange ideas and thoughts with each other.
