RNA – The Prime Minister of Iraq, Haydar al-Abadi, has met with Grand Ayatollah Mahmoud Hashemi-Shahroudi, the chairman of Iran’s Assembly of Experts and who is an Iraqi-born Iranian scholar and politician.

 

During the meeting, Ayatollah Hashemi-Shahroudi expressed his happiness that Mr al-Abadi was chosen as the Prime Minister of Iraq and hoped that his role as Prime Minister would be a turning point to solve Iraq’s problems and unite the divided country and its government.

 

Ayatollah Hashemi-Shahroudi referred to the crisis that Takfiri groups have created in the region, especially in Iraq. He explained that it is necessary to coordinate and unite all of the people of Iraq, whether Shi’ite or Sunni. He also reminded Iraqis that they are fighting a battle to achieve victory over the sedition created by ISIL and other Takfiri groups.

 

At this critical juncture in Iraq’s history, he urged political groups to unite and to use the administrative and management experiences gained from the past administration to further reinforce the fight of truth against falsehood and to stand against the domination of the arrogant nations of the world, as it is due to them that Iraq is in the tragic state that it is in.

 

At the end of the meeting, Ayatollah Hashemi-Shahroudi emphasized that ultimately the great Iraqi nation will achieve victory. “I pray to God Almighty for the prosperity and glory of the Iraqi nation and its government,” he stated.

 

For his part, Prime Minister al-Abadi gave a brief report on Iraq and the sedition created by ISIL and the activities of the government to deal with it. He stressed that this seditious is not only a threat against the security and territorial integrity of Iraq, but also it is also a great threat against the world of Islam.

 

He especially emphasized the dangers of ethnic and religious strife between Sunni and Shi’ite Muslims. Mr al-Abadi stated that these differences have been covertly encouraged by the United States and its allies.
