RNA - The representative, Gharib Hasso, told BasNews that Muslim is expected to visit Erbil next Monday and meet the Kurdistan Region President Massuad Barzani.
Hasso also said that during Muslim’s visit to the Kurdish capital, the two leaders will discuss the Kobani situation, the fight against Islamic State (IS) militants and how Iraqi Kurds can help their brothers in Syrian Kurdistan.
Meanwhile, a source from the Kurdistan Presidency Council told BasNews that Barzani has ordered the Kurdistan Peshmerga Ministry to send weapon to People’s Protection Units (YPG) fighters currently holding out against IS insurgents in Kobani, northern Syria.
“Weapons have been sent in the past from the Kurdistan Region border with Rojava (Syrian Kurdistan) and were given to the PYD,” said the BasNews source.
The source revealed that the weapons were sent through the Semelka border crossing between Iraqi and Syrian Kurdistan.
In the last three weeks, Islamic State militants have beseiged Kobani, forcing thousands of people to flee the city and head for Turkey.
According to the London-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights at least 554 people have died since the Islamic State’s advance on Kobani, which began in mid-September.
