RNA – According to Rasa News Agency, grand Ayatollah Lotfollah Safi-Golpaygani has issued a message to the participants of a conference held to honour the martyrs of the Iran-Iraq War from his hometown of Golpaygan.
The text of his message is as follows:
In the Name of God, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
“And reckon not those who are killed in God’s way as dead; nay, they are alive (and) are provided sustenance from their Lord” [3:169]
Oh God! Peace be upon Your beloved and Your purified and the seal of Your prophets, our master, Abul-Qasim al-Mustafa Muhammad. And peace be upon his oppressed Family (Ahlul-Bayt), especially the Remainder of God on Earth (Imam al-Mahdi) and upon all the truthful martyrs.
Peace be upon our dear souls who spent their lives in sincerity and gave their lives for the holy goals of Islam and to protect its values and its principles with great tolerance and effort. They gave their lives in martyrdom but they will live forever [because of this act].
Peace be upon the martyrs of Golpaygan whose burial shrouds are rose-coloured [with their blood]. This is the city of the revival of the values of the religion, the city of the brave and honourable people and the city of free men. This city lost a large number of its best and dearest youths for the defence of the Islamic country and to protect the glorious Islamic Revolution against the enemies of Islam and the hands of the stooges of global arrogance and the criminal and sinister Ba’thist regime. The enemy mobilized and overtook them on the battlefield and took their lives which they sacrificed [to God].
Yes! They went and performed their duties and today we are responsible for their pure blood and we must guard their lofty goals. Our guardians today are enjoining the good and forbidding the evil and establishing religious slogans.
Today, our government and nation must acknowledge their responsibilities. If the religious identity of this country changes, the practice of the divine commandments of will be weakened and the Islamic commandment of hijab will be disregarded and disrespected. We are all responsible!
I want the government and the administrators to give more attention to the protection of our values and to work to remove the problems faced by the deprived, especially our unemployed and our dear youth and to care for their welfare.
In conclusion, I request the noble people of Golpaygan, especially its respected clergy and dear administrators, to protect this city’s religious identity and to provide for academic and moral developments. This humble soul is always praying for you and I request your prayers. Be successful.
