Rasa - Ayatollah Ali-Reza Arafi, the president of al-Mustafa International University, said “How can a person in the United Kingdom have an opinion on Iran when his government has committed oppression and tyranny throughout the world from Africa to Asia, which government records testify to?”

He accused the United States and the United Kingdom of being two of the greatest oppressors in the history of humankind. They were responsible for many great crimes, including their roles during the First and Second World Wars and hundreds of other wars. “Due to the blood they have shed and the plunder of other countries’ resources, they must be brought to the International Court of Justice,” he stated.

Ayatollah Arafi made the remarks following a Thursday address to the 69th session of the UN General Assembly by the British PM, David Cameron, in which he said Iran should be given “the chance to show it can be part of the solution, not part of the problem” created by the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) terrorist group.

Cameron also accused Iran of supporting terrorism.

Ayatollah Arafi stressed that the Iranian nation and the Islamic Revolution will not allow the US, the UK and their Arab mouthpieces to continue their evil actions throughout the world. “They should be accountable for all the crimes that they have been committed in the world,” he stated.

In reference to the recent statement of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution (Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei) and President Hassan Rouhani’s speech to the United Nations, Ayatollah Arafi condemned the Western powers for their crimes against human conscience and said: “The UK and the US know that the Iranian people, leadership, and government officials are awake and we will stand against them and all of their puppets.”

Due to the occasion of Holy Defence Week in Iran, Ayatollah Arafi appreciated the efforts of Iran’s armed forces for their services to the glorious Islamic Revolution and stated that Holy Defence was the manifestation of the holy Islamic Revolution and the history of our country.

“Even though we sacrificed more than 200,000 martyrs and lost hundreds of thousands of veterans and suffered physically, financially, economically and psychologically and our lifestyle also suffered, we have preserved our independence, glory and honour of our nation. Compared to how much we sacrificed and that which we obtained, the value of this sacrifice was worth it,” Ayatollah Arafi explained.

“The reason that Islam is so dear to us is due to the great sacrifice of the Chief of the Martyrs, Imam Husayn ibn Ali (A), who shed his blood for Islam,” His Eminence emphasized
