Rasa - The 'jihadists' controlling the Iraqi city of Tikrit have blown up a Muslim shrine and rigged one of the region's oldest churches with explosives, security sources and witnesses said.
Mosque Destroyed

RNA - A police lieutenant from the area around the city, which is controlled by ISIL, said Al-Arbain mosque was dynamited on Wednesday.

Witnesses told AFP that ISIL gunmen set up the explosives inside the shrine on Tuesday and detonated them the next day.

The Takfiri extremists also planted explosive materials inside a very old church in Tikrit.

The Green Church, which has been carved out of a rock, dates back to the seventh century.

The unique building is likely to be blown up in the coming days. Tikrit has been under the ISIL control for several months.

Residents said many streets, homes and public buildings had been booby-trapped by the 'jihadists' who have held the city for more than three months and fought off attempts by government forces to take it back.
