RNA – Tehran’s temporary Friday prayers leader, Hujjat al-Islam Kazem Seddiqi, hailed Iran’s nuclear negotiating team’s determination to reach a final deal with the P5+1 group of countries (the US, Russia, China, Britain and France plus Germany), but urged the team not to accept any excessive demands by the world powers.
Hujjat al-Islam Seddiqi said that Iran will continue with the nuclear talks to prove the peaceful nature of its nuclear program but has no trust in the world powers. He said that Iran will not give up its right for peaceful use of nuclear energy and urged the negotiating team to resist the P5+1’s illegal demands.
The seventh round of talks between Iran and the P5+1 group of countries began in New York last Friday. The two sides held six rounds of negotiations in Vienna to reach a comprehensive deal after they inked an interim agreement in Geneva on November 24.
The Geneva agreement took effect on January 20 and expired six months later on July 20. In July, Tehran and the six countries agreed to extend negotiations until November 24 after they failed to reach an agreement on a number of key issues.
