RNA – Speaking at a ceremony at the Holy Shrine of Imam Ali ar-Ridha (A) marking the martyrdom anniversary of the ninth Shi’ite Imam, Muhammad ibn Ali al-Jawad (A), Ayatollah Sayyed Ahmad Alamolhoda, the Friday prayer leader of Mashhad, stated that we should live our lives on the basis of the traditions of the Imam in the areas of ethics, beliefs, thought, practice, philosophy and theology. He said that despite the Imam living 1,200 years ago, we can still live by these timeless traditions of Islam.

He said that the Imams have taught us the perfect way of life and their lessons contain methods for every part of our lives – including eating, walking, raising children, social interaction, economics and politics. Citing an example of the lifestyle of the Imams, Ayatollah Alamolhoda explained that the brother-sister relationship between Imam Husayn (A) and Lady Zaynab (SA) cannot be compared with any other sibling bond because of their infallible statuses, but that we can still take lessons from them on how to live a proper Islamic life.

Ayatollah Alamolhoda stated that the source of the power and triumph of the Islamic system in Iran over the past 35 years has been due to Iran’s leaders following the political conduct and lifestyle of the Ahlul-Bayt (A) and cleverly standing up to the enemies. His Eminence pointed out that by comparing the political situation of Imam al-Jawad (A) to that of today, we realize the importance of the necessity of the requirement for the leader of the Islamic state to be a mujtahid so that he can analyze and derive Islamic religious teachings and guide society toward perfection.

He concluded by stating that the strength of the Islamic system in the early years of the Islamic Revolution cannot be compared to its current state. The Islamic Republic has grown in strength because it has followed the political line of Imam al-Jawad (A) in its rule and protection over Iranian society.
