RNA - A bomb blast killed two Egyptian policemen and two civilians near the foreign ministry in central Cairo on Sunday, a security official said.
The blast occurred on a crowded street near the River Nile. Witnesses said smoke was seen rising from the area.
The incident happened one day after Egypt’s President Abdel-Fattah el-Sissi told The Associated Press he is prepared to give whatever support is needed in the fight against the so-called Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant terrorist group but called for a "comprehensive strategy" to tackle the roots of ‘extremism’ across the region.
According to the security officials, the Sunday explosion targeted a police checkpoint near the back entrance of the Nile-side ministry building, and that another two people were wounded in the blast.
They spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak to the media.
