RNA (Lebanon) – In his Friday prayer sermon on September 12th at the Imamayn al-Hasanayn Mosque in the town of Haret Hreik, south of Beirut, Hujjat al-Islam Sayyed Ali Fadhlullah discussed recent events in Lebanon and touched on Iraq and Palestine as well.

He explained that Lebanon is suffering the fallout and continued danger from the war on Syria, which threatens its eastern border, and the continued abduction of soldiers of the Lebanese army and security forces by Western-backed Takfiri forces attempting to overthrow the government of Syrian president Bashar al-Asad.

He demanded that the Lebanese state unite and strive to solve this ongoing conflict and to exhaust all means to return the abducted soldiers to their parents and loved ones safely and to keep the prestige and morale of the Lebanese army and the Lebanese people. Hujjat al-Islam Fadhlullah also warned against all attempts and assaults on displaced Syrians in Lebanon, who he called “our brothers.” He said that any violence toward Syrian refugees would weaken Lebanon’s security and stability.

The grandson of the late renowned Lebanese scholar Ayatollah Muhammad-Husayn Fadhlullah reminded the Lebanese people to be the aware of the risks that may result from any actions which are not thought out carefully, saying this will prevent the terrorists from achieving their goals. He was referring to the kidnapping and beheading of Sergeant Abbas Medlej, the first Lebanese Army soldier to be beheaded by Takfiri militants inside Lebanon. He added that the Takfiri terrorists are only kidnapping people to stir internal strife.

In another section of his sermon, he referred to Iraq’s new government and congratulated the Iraqi people and their political leaders on reaching a consensus and creating an inclusive government which can lead to the unification of all Iraqis, and is a step toward solving the intractable problems facing the country. “The problems of Iraq can only be solved by cooperation and unity among all sects,” he stated.

Hujjat al-Islam Fadhlullah also called upon the Palestinian leadership and the various political factions to quickly solve of all their differences. His Eminence stressed that these disagreements can threaten the future of the people of the Gaza Strip, and are so grave that they can destroy all the achievements made by the victorious Palestinian resistance in the face of the Zionist enemy during the recent 51-day aggression. This is especially true after the destruction of Gaza’s infrastructure and in light of the continued closure of its border crossings, which prevents access to the necessities of life.
