Rasa News Agency reports – In remarks made during a press conference, Ayatollah Mohsen Araki, the secretary-general of the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought said on Sunday most of the so-called Islamic State’s membersare European and American prisoners and former Saddam-era Ba’th regime members who have nothing to do with Islam. “The Islamic State is made up of a bunch of criminals and its formation is a consequence of Zionism,” he explained.

He stated that Israel and its regional allies support these Takfiri terrorists. “The ‘Islamic State’ and the Zionist regime are like two blades of a pair of scissors and the US tries to conceal its role as a supporter of the Islamic State,” he said.

Referring to the upcoming international seminar of Islamic scholars in support of the Palestinian resistance movement, Ayatollah Araki said that the seminar will be held on September 9-10 in the presence of a large number of outstanding Muslim figures, including Hezbollah of Lebanon and the Islamic resistance movement of Palestine.

He said some 200 Muslim scholars and political elites from 53 countries are to participate in the two-day event, noting the establishment of the Union of Resistance Clerics. This group will issue a declaration of a global campaign to support Palestine and the victims of the Zionist regime and Takfiri terrorist groups’ aggressions.
