Rasa News Agency reports – Ayatollah Mahmoud Hashemi-Shahroudi, a member of Iran’s Guardian Council, presided over the two-day meeting of the Assembly of Experts in Tehran on Tuesday. He discussed several the ongoing political events in the region.
In his remarks to the meeting, Ayatollah Shahroudi explained that the Islamic Republic of Iran supports all the oppressed people around the world against the hegemonistic countries of the West who will never abandon their hostile policies toward Muslim nations. Ayatollah Shahroudi said that Iran has become a global power and has assumed the “spiritual” leadership of the Muslim world, adding that its support for the oppressed Palestinian people has severely weakened the usurping Zionist regime. He stated that the current awakening which is unfolding in the Muslim world is rooted in Iran’s Islamic Revolution of 1979.
Ayatollah Mahmoud Hashemi-Shahroudi has said that the countdown to the demise of the Zionist entity, which is the killer of children, began with the victory of the Islamic Resistance in Gaza. In his speech, he paid tribute to the sacrifices of the people of the Gaza Strip during the recent Israeli aggression and said that Israel’s schemes had failed after the brutal 51-day war on the impoverished coastal strip.
He added that Western countries, including the United States, are behind the sectarian conflicts in the region and the rise of Takfiri terrorist groups. Ayatollah Shahroudi said that Western countries are arming these groups with an aim to discredit Islam by fermenting sectarianism and sedition. He also said that the Zionists are attempting to continue their high-handed acts in other Islamic countries, including Syria, Iraq and Yemen. They also seek to topple the government of the Islamic Republic of Iran, but they will never succeed due to the wise leadership of Ayatollah Khamenei.
