Rasa News Agency reports  On the joyous occasion of the birth anniversary of Lady Fatimah al-Ma’sumah (S), Ayatollah Naser Makarem-Shirazi spoke at the Holy Shrine of Imam ‘Ali ar-Ridha (A) in the holy city of Mashhad. In his sermon, he spoke of the great status of this noble lady and also of the status of the holy city of Qom and its seminary in the narrations of the Ahlul-Bayt (A).

In his sermon, Ayatollah Makarem-Shirazi said that Lady Ma’sumah (S) has a very high status among the Ahlul-Bayt (A) and was a very knowledgeable and learned lady. One famous narration speaks of how of a group of Shi’ah had come to the house of her father, Imam Musa al-Kadhim (A), to ask him questions, but the Imam (A) was not home. Lady Ma’sumah (S) answered all the questions. When Imam (A) came home and saw the answers to the questions written down, he said about his dear daughter “may the soul of her father be sacrificed!”

Another narration says that three of the doors of paradise are in the city of Qom. Ayatollah Makarem-Shirazi explained that his humble interpretation is that the science of interpretation, jurisprudence and theology in the seminary of Qom are these three doors. Speaking of the great status of the holy city of Qom, Ayatollah Makarem-Shirazi said that because of the blessed presence of Lady Ma’sumah (S), the Islamic Seminary was established in Qom.

“There is no seminary as great as the seminary of Qom in the entire world,” he said and explained that this is substantiated by a narration from Imam Ja’far as-Sadiq (A) which states that close to the time of the reappearance of Imam al-Mahdi (AJ), knowledge will appear in a land called Qom. It will become the centre of knowledge and merits that everyone will benefit from, even the women in their homes.
