Rasa News Agency reports - Ayatollah Mohammad-Ali Movahedi-Kermani, spoke at the Eleventh National Assembly of the Islamic Society of Engineers, which was held at the Organization of Culture and Islamic Development. He discussed the importance of forming groups and working together in Islam.

The Tehran interim Friday prayer leader explained that Iran’s must work together under the guidance of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution (Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei) and strive to protect the Islamic Revolution and help it achieve its goals and not allow the enemies to create sedition.

Many verses in the Quran discuss the importance of creating religious groups. If hundreds of associations or religious organizations are active but are not connected, their goals will be missed, as one organization alone cannot fulfill all the necessary goals. His Eminence pointed to the last verse of Surah Aale ‘Imran, which says: “Oh you who have faith! Be patient, stand firm, and close [your] ranks, and be wary of God so that you may be felicitous” [3:200] and said: “This verse reflects the importance of groups or associations.”

Ayatollah Movahedi gave several examples of Islamic duties which must be performed by society and not individuals. Regarding the concept of “enjoining the good and forbidding the evil,” he said it is only possible if society as a whole performs it; a single individual cannot effectively change society. Other example he gave are the importance of congregational prayers in Islam and the collective duty of jihad.

At the end of his sermon, Ayatollah Movahedi said that groups must work with divine goals in mind. Islamic groups will only be successful if they place piety and devotion to God as the cornerstone of their activities. The Takfiri terrorist group ISIL is an example of a group which does not have divine goals in mind. Thus, they are the enemies of Islam.
